Ancient Witch Dungeon Found In Scottish Chapel
1st September 2016
Before the infamous Protestant Reformation, St Mary´s Chapel and The Church of St Nicholas on the outskirts of Aberdeen was a small and quiet chapel. History told us it was nothing more than a place for families and normal working people to come on a Sunday morning and pray. However historians have unearthed evidence showing us this chapel had a purpose alot more sinister.
The guilty found buried
This Incredible find was first noticed when a historian noticed a strange series of invoices for the little church. The invoice was for the cost of manufacturing metal rings, cost of rope, wood and resin. Eye brows raised he soldiered on and discovered the dungeon beneath the old Kirk.
Metal rings manufactured and set into the stone walls to chain the suspect witch, rope to hang the guilty person or persons, wood and resin to burn the remains.
So questions answered it was time to search for solid evidence, and what they found was perhaps one of the largest finds in Scottish history.
A Layout Of The Church
In 2006 they begun a large archaeological campaign. But the remains where not at first found. Until they uncovered a mass grave with more than 2000 human remains and over 1000 intact skeletons.
Experts say the remains pre dated the 1560’s. But witches burned before the 1600’s ? Before The Great Scottish Witch Hunt ? This suggests new evidence that perhaps the famous witch hunt was a direct result of what happened in Aberdeen.
Metal Ring used to bind suspect witches
Its got to make you think right, there is no way this place isn’t haunted. A holding place for suspect witches and devil worshipers. A place of safety during the reformation and the place where over 2000 skeletons where found.
And indeed it is one of the most haunted buildings in Scotland. Although nothing to bad has been recorded a white lady gliding through the chapel and graveyard, disembodied moans etc. Nothing to sinister but who knows what we might uncover if you are ready to call them out.
Some more corpses excavated.
