The Okiku Doll is one creepy little toy. Supposedly possessed by the spirit of a murderous little girl, it haunts the temple it now resides in. Everything about this doll is terrifying, however, there is something that makes this doll stand out above any Annabelle or Robert. It’s hair will not stop growing….

The Tale of Okiku
In the earlier spring months of 1918 a young boy called Eikichi Suzuki went to market and bought his younger sister a doll. The doll was traditional wearing a kimono and her hair was a thick black bob. She was instantly in love. She loved it so much, she chose to name it after herself.
The two Okiku’s were inseparable until tragedy struck, the real Okiku became gravely ill and died one year later. Her grieving family placed her beloved doll on the family altar in memory of their only daughter.

The family went to see Okiku regularly and all was fine until the older brother pointed about that the doll’s hair seemed a little longer… Then it continued to grow and grow until it became a shaggy mess down to Okiku’s knees. The family cut the hair again and again but every time it would just grow back. Only stopping at the knees. They soon believed that the spirit of their lost daughter was living within the doll.
The family moved in 1938, they wanted to take Okiku with them but there was something not right about the doll, something that made them think twice about the fact it could be their daughter’s ghost within. But if it really was there little Okiku they did not want to just throw it away.
In the same year, the doll was sent to a Mannenji temple, who still took it after being told about the dolls curse and her continuously growing hair. The doll’s hair continues to grow to its knees, and in the temple it became a regular task to trim Okikus hair until the present day.

Okiku without doubt, is one of the world’s most haunted dolls. There is activity and possible negative activity at that surrounding this little porcelain horror. The real phenominon is her forever growing barnet. No one has really been able to explain this occurence, how the dolls hair has continued to grow for over a century.
She has since been taken and examined and it has been found her hair is actually human hair! Ofcourse, this does not mean it was paranormal or supernatural. But what is going on with this doll. Some sort of hoax ? Or something a little more mysterious we do not yet understand.
Now Okiku is standing in her box as she always has been in the Mannenji Temple, wearing her kimono and watching the strangers pass by while her hair continues to grow…
