The Beechworth Lunatic Asylum holds the title of world’s most haunted Asylum and that is something to boast about ! Abandoned asylums are by far the creepiest of any stereotyped locations, a creepy ass empty building full of former mental patients… But this location has something a little more than the walking dead. There is said to be something dark here, attracted by all the pain and suffering. With over 9,000 recorded deaths it is not hard to believe.
The Mad Within
600 men and 600 women would be held at one time in the second oldest asylum in the world, over the span of 128 years, 9,000 patients died within the cursed walls. The building closed its doors for good in 1995 after failed attempts of a hotel, conference center and even a university. All of these businesses tried to face the problems after spending a presumably large sum in the shell of the old asylum but they where all driven out by those who still resided within.
In one of the rooms, you will find the signature of J.Kelly, one of more famous ghosts of Beechworth. He was sentenced to 15 years after burning down his sister-in-laws house. When he entered he was thought quite sane but he left a broken man and died in hospital in 1903. He is seen in his old room, striding and banging. In the same room a manical laughter is heard and objects are seen flying across the room before smashing on the wall. Anger ? Or is this pleasure from the fear he inspires.
A Jewish Patient is seen here, she was thrown from the terrace over a pack of cigarettes.Check out the orb captured
The Reaction Hall is one of the most haunted rooms within the building. It was an area where patients would come together and sing or play music even preform from time to time. Two ghosts are seen here constantly. A young girl and an old man. The young girl is heard wailing and scratching at the walls and the old man is seen staring down at passers-by from the window.
The old Matron Sharpe is an active spirit around the dormitories. She is seen walking around the room and rushing up towards people who try and enter.
Tommy Kennedy was murdered in the kitchens when he was working with another patient. People report a tugging sensation or being poked in the ribs. The sound of pots and pans are heard clanging and smashing despite the fact there is no equipment left ! The screams of Tommy are heard, agonising and prolonged.
Little girl saw around the asylum.
The sounds of children giggling and light footsteps are heard all over the building. The building had a huge childrens ward, ofcourse until very recently children were deemed insane when they where acting anything but ” Normal ” and they where treated brutally. Whipped, slapped or kicked. All it took was i slap around the head and an awkward fall and a child would be dead. In alot of old orphanges or aslyums the childrens deaths where often covered up and bodies hidden by evil old women who fed from the suffering of innocent children. In the past resident children were punished for talking to imaginary friends here. We know now that children’s imaginary friends are not always imaginary…
There are alot more intelligently active ghosts here but alot go unnamed. A certain presence or presences here are thought to be alot more than just former patients. All the death, pain and suffering felt here would have easily attracted something darker than the spirit of a little girl. People have enetered the building and been hit with a sudden sickness others have been scratched and bitten. A large black shadow is seen in every part of the bulding, stalking the corridoors, followed by a stench of human feses and with glowing red eyes. The feeling of terror some are said to experience without explanation can only be summed up to something demonic within. Is it possible certain groups have broken in an preformed dark rituals ? It would not be the first time insane asylums have been used for this…
( Paralax on haunted asylums )
Convicted and Condemed
All it took to be convicted to Beechworth Asylum was a request from a pissed off relative and a signature from a doctor who was not even required to examine you in person, and the majority of patients left in body bags…
By far the most haunted part of the building and most terrifying is the Grevillia wing. It was infamous wing that all patients feared, insane or not. With medication not being introduced until the 1950’s. So if you were called mad the only way to cure you were shackles or straight jackets in a tiny white room with padded walls. Often patients would spend weeks, even months on end in this room. Or electro-shock therapy, you would be strapped down and connected to electric wires, the shock felt throughout the body would have caused ligaments to snap and bones to break. The end result if often permanent brain damage that would normally kill so many brain cells and you would be a vegtable.
The image actually was taken inside Beechworth Asylum…
The Greville wing is by far the most haunted and easily the main part of the building to experience some intense paranormal activity.
All of this is, let’s be honest, shit scary but that is nothing compared to the dark history ignored down in the cellars and more.
Rituals & Necromancy in Beechworth
In some mourges or prisons or aslyumns there is rumour of evil practises being preformed of the corpses of the dead. Removing dead bodies or preparing the coprses for burial or indeed the burial itself were all roles that involved the dead were underpayed jobs and relativley easy work to get. So as you can imagine it attracted some of the stranger members of society. As for the doctors, that profession was diffiucult to get into, incredibly difficult. It would have taken a lot of hard work and dedication so it would have been efficent to certain sociopaths with fasination of human anatomy. So what happens then ?
A doctor begins by testing the bodies reactions or perhaps a person’s mental response to certain treatment and they are fascinated by it, then they begin to reach out further and experiment on the dead bodies, then when that was no longer enough to fulfill there self-proclaimed purpose they turned towards the rumours of necromancy and satanic rituals.
There was whispers of this type of activity taking place in the bowls of Beechworth Asylum and why not ! Acts of this kind always attract those darker things and i understand this sounds a tad wacky but go to places supposedly haunted by demonic creatures and then place judgement. It is not hard to believe that these kinds of acts took place at this location and even less hard to believe that something inhuman is still lurking the abandoned halls of the worlds most haunted asylum.
For generations, both old and new, camping has been something loved by all. Camping and hiking are both great ways to break out of your city cycle for a week or two. For some of us, the best moments are around a campfire, with a mug of coco and a bone-chilling tale of bigfoot. But what happens when these tales come to life… What happens when they begin to unfold in front of your very eyes ! From strange noises to apparitions gliding silently through the trees. Here are six of the greatest, true camping encounters.
Is That a Little Girl Crying ?
A family where out camping and a guy who was 11 at the time had trouble sleeping. The tent was so hot and uncomfortable. At around 1 or 2 in the morning, they began to hear what sounded like a faint whimpering coming from somewhere in the distance. Sure it was creepy, but they just shrugged it off and presumed it was an animal of some kind. But then it got louder and louder and then it turned into crying… At this point the boys are sitting up, eyes wide but to scared to call for mum and dad. Then the footsteps began. They got closer until a little girl could be heard directly outside their tent with branches crunching in circles around them.
It didn’t die off. It got louder and again, louder and stood in the same point outside the tent, the entire time. This indicates that she was looking directly at the boy’s tent. It got worse, the cries turned into a scream which made both the boys sit up, petrified with fear. The Scream lasted a few seconds and then cut out. They both stuffed their head into their pillows and left the next day.
The Appalachian Trail
The Appalachian Trail has always been something of a dare more than a hike. Supposedly one of the most haunted Native American sites in the world, it has produced some pretty horrific tales. One of the best tales consists of two brothers taking on the dare in 2007. They were enjoying their hiking trip until they hit a particularly crooked tree that just looked out of place. Then they noticed a man hanging from one of the branches. They sprinted up to him and one brother held his legs whilst the other cut the rope with his pocket knife. He was icy cold and clearly dead but they thought it was wrong to leave him there. So one called 911 and went down the trail to meet them.
Upon his return the second brother came sprinting down the hill, ashen faced. He vomited as soon as he reached them and managed to splurt out ” body gone “. So the police went to investigate. When the group arrived at the spot the body was left all they found was a gnarled looking old stump, but where was the body ? This is not the first time the Hanging Man of the Appalachian Trail has been encountered and definitely not the last.
The Cabin in the Woods
A young couple had rented a huge riverside cabin up in North Michigan for the night. There were rumours of this site being haunted but they decided to brave the night and ignore the gossip. They were just tucking in for the night when a huge cracking sound erupted from the black of the forest. They assumed some old tree had a branch snapped or something of the sort.
They left the living room and went back to bed. But the guy returned to the living room and turned off the lights after forgetting. It was then he noticed a strange light coming through the window, it was abnormally strong… Then it began to pulse. The light intensified throughout the night, at one point you could read a book. Then a strange humming came from the back of the house, it sounded like a women humming a nursery rhyme. The couple ran for the door but just as they opened it, the light died and the humming stopped… They stayed up until the sun rose and then they fled without hesitation. There were no more noises reported through the night apart from that of a loud cracking sound.
A Blue Threat
A group of friends began their night by walking just outside this strange looking circle of cabins. It was a brighter night than normal with all the stars shining and the moon being well lit. There was a campfire in the centre of the cabins and obviously some kind of party going on in another. But as they walked they had a strange chill climb both of their spines, they turned towards to sea to check for a strong wind or breeze and to their horror they saw a large blue figure about 7ft tall, gliding through the trees.
It was a silent and emitting a dim blue glow. The yelled at the figure ” Who are you !? ” but it did not even turn towards them. It simply began to glide out of view, until it was completely gone. Terrified the friends ran back to camp to find one of their friends white and wide-eyed proclaiming that he had just seen that very figure walking into the distance…
Footsteps Unseen
There is an old log cabin on a lake in the Northwoods. It is a lake with zero public access. Opposite the house is an old girls camp that was falling apart and directly in the centre was an old two-story main house. One day a couple decided to go and check out the camp out one day, so they grabbed a canoe crossed the lake and went directly to the main house. They explored for a little while and stopped in there tracks by the sound of heavy footsteps coming above them. Slowly they sped up and headed towards the staircase that led to the level the couple was on.
They ran for it, but instead of heading back to the canoe they went straight into the forest. Then they heard footsteps storming after them all the way from the house and into the forest, it wasn’t long before they reached home but they never saw who or what was chasing them…
Followed by What ?
Two guys decided to go out in the forest and fish around a particularly secluded lake. One was from the city and never spent any time in the woods at night. At around 10:30pm they set off armed with their fishing poles and flashlights. On there way to the lake they both heard something walking in a pitch black part of the wood directly to their left. One of the guys had spent a lot of time around this lake and managed to convince his buddy it was just a deer, but the other was sure he saw something stand on two legs, not four… So they climbed over a fence into a fishing farm. But then something else began to climb the fence. Deer can not climb fences…
They both turned and shone the light behind them at the thing following, and what they saw made them sprint head out, screaming the nearest light. They ended up finding a house and smashed on the door until they could get an answer. An old man answered and let them in the house. After conveying their full story the man agreed and told them this is not the first time this has happened here and it will not be the last. He gave them a lift home and they spoke about the thing in the woods all the way back. To this day nobody will speak of what they saw and the locals keep it a secret…

The Hellhounds of Dartmoor have been in Cornish myth for hundreds of years. These spectral Dogs are said to roam the moor with thick black fur and blood red eyes. Recently in 2007 a video was captured ( Below ) as well as a few photos ( Further Down ) in which you can see what they claim to be the beast of Dartmoor, but to be honest it looks more like a rather large rabbit…
July 2007
During July 2007 there was a group of school children out for a trip in the Moore. Seen only yards away from the group in Hound Tor on Dartmoor, but most intriguingly they actually captured an image ! They described the beast as larger than life with a thick, shaggy coat, rounded ears and huge front limbs, powerful enough to tear a human to shreds.
Falconer Martin Whitley, who photographed the creature, said: “It was walking along a path about 200 yards away from me.
“It was black and grey and comparable in size to a miniature pony. It had very thick shoulders, a long, thick tail with a blunt end and small round ears.
“Its movements appeared feline, then bear-like sprang to mind. There was a party climbing on the tor opposite making a racket but it ignored them completely.”
Some experts have said it is just a wild dog or cat, some of the crazier ones did say it could be a bear or a wolverine. If anyone has read anything up on the Beast of Bodmin Moore recently you will find that there where wild Jaguars filmed by a sports centre down there !!! These jaguars were supposed to be escaped exotic pets. Take a look at another shot of a beast caught on the Moore.
This animal is completely different, it almost looks like a bison but there again its legs are more like that of a hare… Whatever it is, it’s creating a story, creating something that the world is forced to take a second look at.
The Hellhounds of Dartmoor
During the 1800’s spiritualism and ghosts on a whole were crazy popular. They loved anything to do with ghost hunting or mediumship. So when rumour hit of a pack of spectral dogs, known locally as the Whist Hounds or Hound’s of Hell, were roaming the moor they went nuts. It inspired Arthur Conan Doyle to write Sherlock Holmes and the Hound of Baskervilles. He was Inspired by a local enthusiast called Richard Cabell from Brook Manor.
Richard was rumoured to have sold his soul to the Devil and after he died a phantom pack of spectral hunting dogs with glowing red eyes were said to have been released on the Moor at night. They have been witnessed howling at his tomb. Legend has it that as part of his contract the dogs were allowed to roam the Moor and in return he was gifted with wealth, hence the manor house. Funny how the the link of English lords and deals with demonic forces seem to keep cropping up in history…
The founder of the national research network Big Cats in Britain, Mark Fraser, said: “It looks like a wolverine or a bear in some shots and a big wild dog in others. It is a very strange animal.”
Mr Whitley is adamant that the creature is not a wild dog.
He added: “I have worked with dogs all my life and it was definitely not that.
“I have seen a collie-sized black cat in the area about ten years ago and it was not that – this was a lot bigger.
“You would be surprised at the number of people who have seen black big cats and something resembling a small bear in the area over the course of the years.”
Disappointingly for those who possess a vivid imagination, the most likely explanation yesterday was that the Beast is nothing more supernatural than a large and hairy wild boar.
North Devon farmer Al Dedames lost more than 100 of his stock of boar in December 2005 when animal rights activists raided his farm and destroyed fencing.
Since then, more than half are thought to have died in road traffic accidents or been shot by farmers or hunters.
But those which survived have bred and up to 175 are said to be roaming the wilds of Devon and Somerset.
Is this more than just some escaped dogs ? Is this really a follow up from the Devil’s promise ? That’s for you, our most awesome readers to decide.

A terrified woman has recently surfaced about her horrific experiences at home. She claims that she has been followed by the ” Violent ghost of Jack the Ripper!” for four decades. She even sent in a video to support her claim. Check it out below.
Her Story
The women called Gaynor Issit had said that the evil presence in her home has been following her around for as long as she could remember. She claims that the evil presence is, in fact, Jack the Ripper !!, the infamous East End murderer who took the lives of 11 women in 1888, he was never caught. She said his ghost in one of a few in her home.
Apparently, they burn bibles, attack her in her sleep and she has even claimed to have been punched and hit around the head.
Ms Issit said she has to “share the property” in Leicestershire with all of the evil spooks. The house has even been exorcised a few times all of the priests have tried and failed to get rid of the ghosts inside. The women have been dragged from bed a couple times since those ” Life-saving ” exorcisms, as well as being pushed down the stairs.
She claims the September following the exorcisms is when the shiz began to really hit the fan. She claimed that since then her life has been a living nightmare. But she simply refuses to move out, because it’s the house where she has brought up all of her children, which to be honest does not sound to homely.
Some serious paranormal investigators have been in the home since the claims first hit the media, and they agree that her house is amongst the top five most haunted in Britain. A guy called Mark Vernon who has been working within the paranormal world for over 15 years is convinced that one of the spirits involved could easily be the true ghost of Jack the Ripper. ” I feel sorry for what she has had to go through, i have never seen a house with this level of activity”.
Ms Issit has been living at home alone after the poltergeists attacked her husband. He knows lives in a care home following an accident that left him paralysed, he’s 43….
They have dubbed the ghost causing the most harm ” Jack “, he is well known for burning the heads from family photos and furniture. Ms Issit added, ” He has started fires so often that I have to keep buckets of water around the house, he physically attacks me, and I have been left bruised in the past.” ” We have also heard growling noises and my partner has seen the figure of a large man walking around the house, as well as a little girl and old women.” ” We have never spoken to it directly, but we’ve recorded them and they swear and say there going to kill someone in the house.” ” We have learned to just live with it…”
One of the many burned photographs
It would seem to us after seeing countless cases like this, that this is without a doubt the work of something inhuman. Fires, scratching, growling, attacks, death threats, they all sum up to the same cause. Perhaps Jack the Ripper is here also but this is the primary work of something demonic…
The Yucca man is one of the most disputed mysteries in California today. For a long time, this yellowish figure has been spotted throughout the Joshua Tree National Park in Southern California since 1973. Some say it’s Joshua Tree’s very own bigfoot, others claim it’s a spectre roaming the dry plains of the national park. Ofcourse, this could just be a hoax, but then a simple hoax has attracted the attention of both the FBI and the CIA.
The First Sightings
The first sighting of the Yucca man was reported in 1971, it came from a man who was dead set against anything paranormal. An on-duty Marine guard at the nearby military base of Twentynine Palms was found later in the same area with his rifle bent in half. He was in shock so to draw any information out of him was near impossible, but he did manage to inform his fellow officers that a huge man had come out of the shrub and towards him. He raised his rifle and ordered the man to halt but as he drew closer, he realised the man was covered in hair. The figure then moved too quickly for the man to react, he took the rifle from the Marine, bent it in half and then knocked the officer out.
Both the FBI and the CIA immediately begun an investigation. There have been at least two other sightings of similar figures in the same night. One agent reported a figure being 12ft tall with a smaller figure alongside. Hikers in the area also reported there dogs going mad and barking at a strange presence in the area. In the same year, there were also numerous reports from a lot of the Joshua Park employees.
The Reports Continue
The reports of the Yucca man continued to come in, one, especially in 1979, came from an elderly couple. They claimed their car was stopped one night by a large hairy man near the Condominium in Desert Hot Springs. They said that he stepped out from behind a yucca bush and stood over the front of their car. They described him and being monumental, with a chest the size of a refrigerator, its arms dangling below its knees. It had long tan hair and an angry expression. It stopped in front of the car, looked at those inside and then vanished into the night.
Later evidence would be found in the form of 17 footprints that the creature had left behind. He would be seen on two separate occasions in two nearby areas. The footprints were a foot and a half long and six feet apart… Bigfoot fanatics would later stake out the area but find nothing else.
The Yucca Man Photo
Later on, towards the 1990’s the legend began to fade… Until a rock climber returned from a camping trip in Joshua Tree and he found something in his photographs later on, something that would shock the world. The campsite had been near a kind of cave, an ideal location for such a creature to live and he snapped a photo of the trail to his camp, he captured the figure above and created a new uproar in the paranormal community. The Yucca Man is here !!!
The Yucca man could easily be an urban legend, a training exercise for the marines, a paranormal creature, something that travels between dimensions, or simply a huge and hairy homeless man. We will only find out when man has developed sufficient technology to detect such creatures and then, just maybe, we can begin to understand them.

Witchcraft is something that will be remembered in English and American history perhaps until the end of days. Whenever we look at haunted locations or ghosts, we see some pretty fudged up locations. But the most fucked up locations are always linked to demonic activity and witchcraft. Sometimes they come hand in hand. We have found some of the most infamous witches in history, and we have found where they haunt!
Madame Lalaurie
Madame Lalaurie is defiantly the best known of this sinister bunch, thanks to American Horror Story. The character she played was one of pure evil. But unlike Hollywood, they played it down ! Madame Lalaurie was a black-hearted woman. She was and is famous for the brutal treatment of her slaves. Dr Louis Lalaurie and his wife, Delphine ( Madame Laurie) moved in the Creole mansion in 1832. For a long time, they were well respected for their wealth and social status. She was considered one of the most intelligent and beautiful women in the city. But behind closed doors, she cold-blooded and possibly insane.
She kept her cook chained to the fireplace in the kitchen, where he would only be unchained to cook, nothing less than perfect meals. A lot of slaves were treated much worse than this. This cruelty, however, were happening in a certain period when the brutal treatment of slaves was illegal. The police were called many times, but Madame Lalaurie was always ready and she was not caught for a long time. Until one day a fire broke out in the kitchens said to be started by the cook.
When the fire was put out, the firefighters found something behind a barred door in the attic that would reveal this devious bitch for who she really was. They found more than a dozen slaves here, chained to the walls in a disgusting state. Somewhere strapped to makeshift operating tables, somewhere confined in cages made for dogs, human body parts were scattered around the room, human heads and organs were crammed into buckets, and on the shelves next to them, a collection of whips and paddles.
According to the newspaper, the New Orleans Bee, all of her victims were naked and the ones not chained to tables where chained to the walls. Some of the women had their stomach’s sliced open, their intestines pulled out and then wrapped around their waist. One woman had her mouth stuffed with animal shit and her lips sewn shut. The state the men were left in was even more horrific. Private parts had been sliced off, eyes poked out, one man even had a small hole in the top of his head, used to stir his brains. Somewhere even still alive, one woman, in particular, had all of her limbs broken in order to be forced into a tiny cage. There was also rumour of pentagrams and other strange symbols scattered around the room , drawn in the servant’s blood. This was a time where witchcraft was wildly feared, so mention of her demonic activities would have been hushed up and they were hard to find !
The Madame and her husband fled, following the gathering of a vicious mob outside of the mansion. There were rumours of her fleeing to Paris but this was never proven.
She returned to the house many years later, in the form of a spirit. She is seen often in her house of horror. She has been seen around the house accompanied by the screams of her victims. The house has been plagued by mysterious deaths and occurrences since then. Black people, especially have been affected more than any other, on one occasion a young black girl, who went to school in the former torture house had huge and bloody whip marks on her back. People are attacked a lot in this sinister mansion but who can say what is really here… Is it the madame still roaming her former home, the slaves trapped in the place where they suffered so much, or is it something else completely, something summoned by the inhuman activities of Madame Lalaurie.
The Bell Witch – The Bell Cave
The Bell Witch is one of the most well-known hauntings in American history, and the Bell Witch herself is one of the most famous Witches in the world. She was an evil entity that tormented an American family between 1817 and 1821, to this day it is called ” America’s Greatest Haunting “.
The story begins with a man called John Bell in 1817 when he spotted a strange animal sitting in his field. It was the size of a dog, with the body of a dog and the head of a rabbit, with thick black fur and piercing red eyes. When Mr Bell began to shoot, it vanished on the spot. That very evening they were plagued by activity. There was a beating on the front door, it sounded like someone banging on the door to be let it, this carried on for the entire night. It wasn’t long until the Bell Witch began to show her true self.
She would rip the covers from the sleeping family and slap them in the face repeatedly during the course of the day. Then they began to hear what sound like faint whispers and an old woman singing rhymes in an unfamiliar tongue. Over time the voice became stronger, eventually what she was saying became easily distinguishable, it sang hymns, quoted scripture and even replied intelligently to question.
The haunting went on for a long time, it attracted the investigations of the military and they only lasted one night before the soldiers would be seen fleeing from their tents in the dead of night. She then killed a member of the family with a poison they found in the medicine cabinet and proclaimed ” I gave Ol’ Jack a big dose of that last night which fixed him!”.
Almost 200 years later, the witch still haunts the land and caves below. The faint sounds of people talking and children playing can be heard and candle lights dance through in the fields in the black of night. There is a lot of evidence captured here gathered through photography. Including what looks like apparitions of an old woman, hunched over with wild hair… Is this the Bell Witch herself or just another trick of the light?
Elizabeth Demdike – Pendle Hill
Pendle Hill, is perhaps, the most haunted location in the Uk. It is an entire hill infested with the spirits of witches and some say demons. The activity here is matched by very few places in the world.
People when calling out or provoking on the hill have been psychically harmed. Some have been scratched, burned and slapped. One man actually had a pestle thrown at his head, nobody knew where it came from ! Another group heard a sharp click hitting the altar on the top of the hill, only to find a human tooth had been thrown at them ! The locals down in the village refuse to even speak about the ghosts on the hill.
It is said that up on the hill there are 9 witches in total, all lead by the legendary Elizabeth Summers aka. Elizabeth Demdike. There Demdike family were all heavily involved in satanism and witchcraft. All of them were eventually caught and hung. But not before they successfully called a demon that they named Tibb. Tibb came in the shape of a boy with a thick coat of fur, half black, half brown.
Elizabeth took great care in raising her family and teaching them witchcraft of the darkest kind. She lived in the Pendle Forest which is also insanely haunted. Following the hanging of Elizabeth and her family she proclaimed that they would be back, along with their master Tibb. It would seem that is just the case. A very dangerous location but well worth a visit .
George Pickingill – The Village of Canewdon
The village of Canewdon is almost unheard of, but is known locally as the Village of Witches ! There is a tonne of mystery and legend surround this little village and in particular the church. One of which states ” If you run around the church 3 times, anti-clockwise, the devil will appear”. There were a lot of people here sentenced with witchcraft, but there was one guy who put Canewdon on the map for witchcraft, George Pickingill.
George was well known for practising Arabic Mysticism, Christian Heresy, Danish Paganism and French Witchcraft. He famously wrote the Pickingpill Papers, which covered the history and anthropology of Wicca. He also created nine covens in Essex, Hampshire, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Sussex. He controlled all of them… If that wasn’t enough he was also able to summon all of his witches with a wooden whistle ! Lefebure wrote that Pikingill had close relations with the Devil and he had sold him his soul.
He is thought to be the man seen lurking around Canewdon’s churchyard, and causing harm to people there. Both mentally and psychically. But he is not the only ghost of Canewdon.
There is also a woman seen dancing, naked in the night. She is normally spotted, again, around the churchyard. As well as a faceless grey lady in a poke bonnet. The faceless lady is seen floating from the graveyard down towards the River Crouch. Some have seen her even crossing the water and it looks like she is walking directly upon it.
Doubtless Canewdon is one of the most haunted locations in Great Britain. But who is causing the most harm here ? The ringleader George Pickingill or is it one of his many witches ?
Isobel Gowdie – Auldearn
At Auldearn, in Scotland, many have been disturbed by the sight of a spectral old woman believed to be the ghost of Isobel Gowdie. Isobel was a Scottish woman who was tried for Witchcraft in 1662. Her detailed confession was given freely, without the use of torture, gave a detailed insight into European witchcraft folklore at the end of the era of witch-hunts.
Her confession was pretty insane and explained the deeds of her coven. They could apparently transform into animals. She explained to turn into a hare, she would chant : “I shall go into a hare, with sorrow and sych and meikle care, and I shall go in the Devil’s name, ay while I come home again.” She also claimed to be close to the Queen of the Fairies, known as the Queen of Elphame, in her home under the hills. As well as she and her coven having a cardinal knowledge of the Devil who walked amongst them.
There is no record of Isobel really doing any harm to people, or being executed. Little is known about what happened following her trail. But witchcraft is known to involve death and torture… So to suggest she was able to summon some form of a demon by simply chanting some words, or ” turn into a hare” without first giving something substantial to her dark lord seems a bit off. But history is not always correct.
She is seen around Aulderan, in the form of a ‘Green Lady’. The area around Dead Man’s Wood is said to be most active with her spirit. Like most other dark locations, people are being mentally disturbed as well as psychically harmed. This could be the ghost of Isobel, she is seen here. Floating along in her long earthen green dress. But it could also be something that came through from the other side. Invited through by the activities of these evil women.
50 Berkeley Square has the most horrific ghost stories out of any location in Greater London. To this day police notice stands on the wall inside of 50 Berkeley Square proclaiming that the upper levels are forbidden to guests and owners alike. Following a string of strange deaths and rumours of conjuration and satanic worship inside it stands today as London’s most haunted and mysterious location.
Building a Legend
50 Berkeley Square is situated in one of the most influential parts of London called Mayfair. It was designed and then built by William Kent during the late 18th century. Almost immediately after its doors opened to tenants the residents of Berkeley Square began to tell tales of mysterious residents and then they saw the proof, when a young woman called Adeline jumped from the top floor window to escape her abusive uncle. She has been seen ever since throwing herself out of the window again and again.
Then there was Mr. Dupre… Mr. Dupre kept his mad brother locked on the upper floor of the building and fed him through a hole in the door. A little girl has been seen around the building since that day and it is thought that she was put in the locked room with the insane sibling, nobody knows what he did to her but the end result is obvious.
The Haunting Begins
The first long-term resident of 50 Berkeley Square was former Prime Minister George Canning, who lived there until the day he died in 1827. He was the first person to experience activity within the house in the form of inexplicable sounds and horrific nightmares. Following his death
Following his death, a few people moved in and out of the house through the 1850’s. But this seemed to awaken whatever was lying dormant within the property, this thing showed itself for the first time when a maid was spending the night alone on the top floor. She was found there, screaming, her face twisted with fear. She survived but never left the sanatorium.
After this incident, rumours began to circulate around London. This was a time where the paranormal was something of a phenomenon and incredibly popular, even Charles Dickens himself took interest in the house.
An advert was published in the local newspaper stating that only the bravest men could spend the night in 50 Berkely Square. So, of course, one stood up and claimed he had no fear. They set up a bell system in the house so that the man could ring once for fear and two rings for help. The man went to sleep. About 15 minutes later the bell starting ringing frantically, he was found rigid, with a look of horror etched into his face and dead. For a while following this, a little old lady called Miss Curzon bought the house and she lived the last of her few years in the luxury townhouse.
The Monster Inside
After a short while the house came back to market. It was purchased by a Viscount Bearsted who in turn leased it to a youth named Mr Myers who was on the verge of marriage. After the unexpected death of his bride to be, Mr Myers locked himself into isolation in the townhouse he had furnished so beautifully for her. But in his isolation, he got into some messed up shiz.
The neighbours would report seeing him walking, as if with no soul, from window to window, room to room. It is unclear what exactly happened to him, but there is strong evidence that he tried all manner of experiments to get back in touch with his lost love. Including satanic worship, which woke something that had previously lay dormant.
Mr. Myers disappeared. No-one even saw him leave. But he was gone. In 1872 an aristocrat decided to stay the night in London’s most sinister townhouse with his trusted shotgun. He claimed that a mass of brown tentacles shot out at him from the shadow and he shot, but there was no trace of the monster.
In 1873 the local council summoned the owners of 5o Berkeley Square over back taxes. Neither the viscount or Bearsted turned up. They had both disappeared, the townhouses reputation led to the council dropping the charged and the building, once again, lay dormant. During this period, the neighbours called out the police numerous times, with complaints of screaming, the sound of furniture being dragged, windows slamming, and the sound of bells ringing, despite the fact all of the bells had been removed. All coming from the shell of 50 Berkely Square.
1879 after being dormant for 6 years, London’s most haunted house was purchased by a man with two teenage daughters. When they moved in the eldest daughter claimed that the house smelled like zoo animals in a cage. Two days later as the top floor bedrooms for where prepared for the arrival of her betrothed , the maid was found collapsed and in hysterics in the guest room. She was crying ” Don’t let it touch me” over and over and over, all the way to the sanitarium.
The Captain arrived late, and somehow he ended up in the basement. The family could not find him for over an hour until screams were heard, followed by gunshots. He was found like the others petrified and dead. The Mayfair Magazine wrote about the entire affair and dubbed the creature the Nameless Horror. 50 Berkeley Square’s Nameless Horror soon became known throughout the world.
A Conclusion
By the late 19th century the house had been abandoned and vanished from the public eye. But it wasn’t the last time it would kill. On Christmas Eve 1887, two sailors on leave from the HMS Penelope were looking for a place to spend the night after partying. The two of them stumbled on 50 Berkeley Square and settled into one of the upper bedrooms. At some time, during the night, one of the sailors were awoken by heavy footsteps before the ghost of Myers entered the room. The other sailor awoke to his fellow sailor ensnared by tentacles and ran from the room. When he returned with the authorities they discovered the man lying dead.
Since then an elderly couple have owned the house and turned it into an antique bookstore. They absolutely refused to acknowledge claims of the haunting. But they still never went upstairs.
The bookstore was recently closed and the new owners report objects being thrown around and a strange brown mist seen floating around the premises. Perhaps now it will be possible to investigate the building, all we can do is try. But a notice still stands on the door from the 1800’s stating that the top floors of 50 Berkeley Square are not to be used by anyone for any reason. That includes the actual owners of the buildings themselves…
In the year 1986 human kind saw one of its worst nuclear disasters to date. An event that killed 31 people but had long term affects on over 500,000. As horrific as this event is, there is something else around this abandon town, something that even the military began to take notice of. People have reported seeing the ghosts of those who died here still roaming, but what about Chernobyl’s Blackbird ?
The Blackbird
The year before Chernobyl’s power plant blew in 1968 the people working and living in Chernobyl began to report strange events. Sightings of a strange creature, described to have huge and thick black, it was said to be a bird like creature with the body of a man, colossal black wings that stretched over 20ft, no head and glowing red eyes coming from the pit where its neck should have begun.
People who had actually seen the Blackbird began to suffer from horrific nightmares, they received threatening phone calls and some had more encounters with the winged beast. Reports of the beast continued to increase until the morning of April 26th, 1986. 1.23am reactor No.4 at the Chernobyl power plant exploded in the former Soviet Union.
The Powerplant suffered a cataclysmic steam explosion that began a chain of events that resulted in a nuclear meltdown. The power plant then regurgitated a world changing amount of radioactive fallout. The fallout spread over parts of the Western Soviet Union, Eastern & Western Europe, Scandanavia, the Uk, Ireland and North Merica within 48 hours.

When the firefighters arrived and attempted to flight the flame over 500 people reported seeing this winged creature swirling in and out of the rising black smoke. No further sightings of the Blackbird were reported that day. However this is not the only time in history this being has been reported.
The Mothman
The ” Mothman ” has been seen for thousands of years. It is an omen of death and disaster and it’s description matches perfectly with the Blackbird. It has been noticed more and more throughout history especially in more recent times where we find it easier to connect with other people and hear their stories from around the world.
One of the best-known accounts of the Mothman apart from Chernobyl occurred in the old West Virginia Ordnance, an area known as ” TNT Area”
The TNT Area dates back to WWII. The facility during its operation manufactured ammunition and dynamite. It is mainly a large woodland area but it is riddled with little concrete igloo like buildings that hold large amounts of TNT. It is also a maze of underground tunnels with random storage units of gunpowder. Most of which, these days are flooded or have been sealed off.
In 1979, the fisherman in the area reported that chemicals that been left in the water of the TNT area. It was unchecked for so long that by 1983 it became an environmental disaster and the area became one of the most polluted in America. It was here on November 15th, 1966, that two young couples would encounter this strange creature. These two young couples were taking a cross country trip in a black chevy. It was the youngest female, Linda who noticed the creature first. She saw two glowing red eyes in the darkness beside the old power plant. They quickly noticed that the eyes belong to a human looking 7ft tall, black figure. Obviously, they drove off and to their horror, it followed. The creature spread its wings and chased them down Highway 62 at speeds over 100mph.

They arrived in town and felt stupid, they began to try and make some sense of what just happened. They settled on the fact that this was just a large bird… So they returned to face their fears. It wasn’t long until the Black Bird showed itself again, apparently, it was waiting for them on Route 62. They quickly realised this was no bird and it stood in the shape of a man. It shot up vertically into the air at an impossible speed and disappeared above the tree line.
They returned to town, in shock to report the story to the sheriff. The story actually made headlines ; ” Couple sees man-sized, bird…Creature…Something”. It was a disturbing experience for all. Linda the youngest female who first encountered the Mothman suffered a nervous breakdown in later years, but it is common for those who have encountered this beast to suffer in such ways.
Continued Sightings
The creature would be seen throughout the next thirteen months in Point Pleasant. There was roughly over 100 sightings around this time. The Mothman was seen so much that it took the attention of the government to a point where witnesses were being harassed by the Men in Black, they were warned not to speak out about this creature. I think that proves that fact that something paranormal was occurring in the area. The sightings all seemed to arise just before the collapse of The Silver Bridge in that area.
There have been soooooooo many sightings around the modern world of this creature and it is always followed by disaster. It was recently seen in Freiburg Germany, where a Mothman-like creature chased miners away shortly before a collapse. There was also multiple sightings around the Minnesota Bridge collapse time and even before and after 9/11…
The Legend Goes On
Mothman sightings have been associated at least two other cryptids. Thunderbirds with grey bodies and red eyes were sighting in the same area and at the same time as the Silver Bridge incident. Owlman is also an identical creature with black wings and red eyes in Cornwall.
Two legends from Shawnee Indian lore mention creatures identical to Mothman deemed Misignwa and Waupee.
Some believe the Mothman is an Angel, Demon or the product of a blood curse. In our experience looking at these things we find demon like creatures always seem to have the glowing red eyes and appear and large black figures. But what is this Blackbird, Mothman, Owlman Misignwa. There is no doubt it exists, there are just too many reports around the world of this creature. But is it an Omen of Death ? An Angel that warns those who are in danger by appearing ? Only further investigation can tell us more. Soon we will be heading down to Cornwall in hunt of the Owlman himself, so keep an eye on the facebook page you can find on the sidebar. We will solve this mystery.

Pluckley Village, Kent has been called the UK’s most haunted village, with over 15 active spirits and not all of them friendly. But the woods next to this village is what caught our attention. Pluckley’s ancient screaming wood. But what is screaming ?
Pluckley Village & Forest
The legend of the screaming woods began when the Guinness Book of Records published that Pluckley was Britain’s most haunted village. The village itself is haunted by more than twelve ghosts, but some say it may even be forty… That would surprise anyone who has a knowledge of the history of the area. It is a place of death.
But then, people slowly people began to turn their attention to the adjacent Dering Woods. This forest is inexplicably active. So many reports started flooding in of ear-splitting screams coming from within the forest, both day and night. There are also shadows that are well known for following those across the forest who have the balls to enter.
It has been suggested that the most prevalent spirits within the forest are those of an 18th century Colonel who killed himself in the shrub, as well as a highwayman who was captured by the local villagers during the 18th century, nailed to a tree and then had his head cut off…
Funny enough, similar to the Ballybolly forest this site is home to one of the world’s oldest Neolithic sites. Is it possible that these sites are giving off some strange kind of energy acting as a fuel for these ghosts to act out ? It’s a theory, but isn’t that how facts are created?
The Ghost’s Seen at Pluckley
There have been over forty, yes forty ! different ghosts are seen at Pluckley, both within the forest and the village. All of them are active, but not in the kind of way that you would see on most haunted. We are talking smashing objects against the wall, following you around the location, blood-curdling screams, and psychical attacks and attachments. There are a few who have been identified and here are their stories.
The Hanging Colonel
In an area of the adjacent forest called Park Wood, there is an old army Colonel seen marching around the forest. He committed Suicide by hanging himself from a tree. People have seen this guy hanging from a tree and walking up behind them. He has been seen been a sad expression and sometimes he has even reached out to visitors to the forest, is it possible he is trapped like so many others in the forest ?
The Ghostly Highwayman
Along the Smarden Bell Road, there is a junction that has been dubbed Fright Corner. He was taken and killed by angry villagers, who were tired of his killing and stealing. They took him to the forest, nailed him to a tree and took off his head…
His screams are said to be part of the horrific symphony that gives the screaming woods its name. But that’s not all, he is actually known to jump out from behind trees and terrify hikers ! That is not alike anything else we have heard before, and it is fudged up.
The Miller
In the village of Pluckley, there was an old wooden windmill that dated back to the 19th century. In 1939, lightning struck, it burned and eventually crumbled.
The old miller called Richard ‘Dicky’ Buss hung himself after the loss of his business. People have seen this spirit standing, with empty eyes simply staring at the spot where his old mill once stood. Some even say that during a lightning storm he is seen hanging…
The Phantom Monk
On the edge of the village, there is a large white house called Greystones. The house itself was built around 1863 when it was originally called Rectory Cottage. This is the domain of the Phantom Monk. He is often seen around and within the house, he is best known for being the cause of avid poltergeist activity within.
The Tudor Lady
Near to the Greystones, is another tiny cottage, Rose Court Cottage. It is well known for being haunted by Pluckley’s Tudor Lady. Legend tells us that she was friends with the monk mentioned above, possibly even a secret love affair.
Following his death, she also committed suicide by drinking a potion made up of some poisonous ivy berries taken from the forest. *Starting to see the pattern yet? She is seen walking around the grounds surrounding the cottage, sometimes even with her two faithful pooches.
The Dering Arms
One of the oldest buildings within Pluckley village. It dates back to the 1840’s and it was used as a hunting lodge serving the Dering Estate. Today it is a B&B, and one of the most haunted in the world.
There is a lot of poltergeist activity within, chairs scrape along the floor, footsteps are heard banging up the stairs and objects are pushed off the bar to smash on the floor. But what unsettles guests most of all is the old lady seen sitting by the window. She is said to wear a Tudor period style dress with a bonnet. She is known to be seen sitting in a chair by the window and then simply vanish into thin air.
The Headless Coachman
What ghost story would be complete without the Headless Horseman? Well, this one has been seen around the village. He has been seen driving a black carriage led by 4 cryptic black horses. The ghostly vehicle is seen mainly on Maltman’s Hill, but also around the village a lot.
The Screaming Man
In the 19th century, a man died after falling into a clay pit at the old brickworks. He is heard screaming through the night. This, of course, is only residual but still creepy af all the same.
The White Lady
Along the street in the village, the 13th-century church stands out more than any other building. The churchyard holds the Dering family vault and inside the church itself people have seen a white lady, she has been described as young and beautiful.
The Red Lady
The Churchyard is also haunted by the Red Lady. She is thought to be the ghost of Lady Dering who the child was stillborn. She is seen around an unmarked grave. She herself was buried at the top end of the church those placed on top of her tombstone.
Both she and the White Lady are seen in and around the church, and when they are not seen they are heard. Clicking footsteps are heard within the church, they sound like someone walking in high heels…
The White Dog
This one is awesome. There is actually a white dog seen around the church. It looks like a pretty normal dog with white hair. It follows people into the church, sits with them, some have even stroked him. He is also seen sitting and staring straight forward from the church.
Later, when guests have asked the priest about the dog. He has revealed that the dog has been seen around the area for hundreds of years, he used to belong to a former priest who worked in the church. That fits with the fact that the dog is known to disappear. Even sometimes whilst being stroked.
The Hanging Schoolmaster
Dicky Buss Lane is haunted by the ghost of a schoolmaster who committed suicide there by hanging himself from a nearby tree. He did this just after the WWI. The children actually found him hanging on their way to school.
He is seen today, hanging from that same tree dressed in a frock coat and striped trousers…
The Watercress Woman
Just next to the Pinnock Bridge, a misty pink apparition has been seen. The locals tell tales of an old gypsy woman who used to sell watercress by the road and harvested from the fields just next to the road itself.
She died when she fell asleep smoking her old pipe. The embers from her pipe fell onto her straw bed, and she burnt to death.
The Black Horse Pub
In the center of the village is its most haunted building. The Black Horse dates back to the 1470’s when it was a dry-moated farmhouse for the Dering family.
The spirit responsible is thought to be a little girl called Jessie. She is well known for hiding people clothes from them and smashing pint glasses on the floor, in the bar area.
The Screaming woods is an awesome location, they even do nights where you can brave it out in a tent. it is definitely worth a shot, if you don’t believe in ghosts go stay a night there and then see what you believe.
Some footage has come out of one of the world’s most haunted hospitals and it’s insane. A doctor had recently taken his life and he has been terrorizing staff. But is this him ? Whatever it is, it is bone chilling.
The Footage seems to show a figure peeking out from behind the door, directly at the camera, you can easily make out a face, shoulders, and torso. He then simply walks out of the door and disappears…
The internet has claimed this video was taken in the School Hospital Universitario in Honduras, where a rather deranged doctor took his own life.
There are a lot of claims to this hospital being one of the most haunted in the world. There are an incredible amount of stories coming out of it ; lights flickering on and off, strange screams or a playing humming in the corridors. Not to mention the doctor himself creeping around.
As with most video posts, we will let the footage speak for itself and thank The Occult Museum for this awesome find.
