The Bell Witch is an evil entity that tormented an american pioneer family in Tennessee between 1817 and 1821. It was witnessed and documented by many people including psychologists and doctors. The events that took place led it to be named ” America’s Greatest Haunting “. Today the haunting is still as active now as it is then with the house where the events took place as well as the caves below show distinct signs of a demonic type haunting.
The haunting itself seemed to have started in 1817 when John Bell was inspecting a cornfield when he saw a strange animal sitting in the middle of a field, an animal with the body of a dog and the head of a rabbit. When Mr Bell began to shoot at the beast it simply vanished. That evening the Bell family began to hear “beating” sounds on the outside of the house and front door.

Not long after the banging´s the entity began to rip of the children´s bed rovers or have there pillows thrown across the room. Following that they began to hear faint whispers that sounded like an old women singing rhymes.
Then The Bell Witch began to show its true self. The youngest daughter would have her hair pulled and be slapped continuously, she’d even have hand-prints visible allover her body.
So in terror Johnathan Bell shared the trouble with his neighbor James Johnston. James and his wife spent the night where they also had the bed covers ripped from them and where slapped repeatedly.

The old women’s voice became stronger over time to a point where it was so loud that what she was saying was distinguishable. It sang hymns, quoted scripture and responded intelligently to questions.
It even quotes word for word two sermons that where preached at the exact same time on the exact same day the sermon was being held 13 miles apart. Word soon spread and soon enough Major General Andrew Jackson took interest and sought to investigate this allegedly insane haunting.
The whole company ; 2 horses, 8 men and a carriage all got stopped. They tried and tried for about 10 minutes to pull the carriage but it would not move, General Jackson stated ” This must be the Bell Witch ! ” and again that old women’s voice rand loud and clear telling them they could proceed and she would be seeing them later that night.

One of the medieval goons even proclaimed to be a “witch tamer”. Funny enough there was little activity when the group where in the house. The ” witch tamer ” even proclaimed that she was scared of his silver bullets ! It didn’t take long for the demonic entity to single him out ….
The man began after several hours jerking violently from left to right screaming that he was being stabbed with needles and beaten. A sharp kick to the ass sent him flying out the front door and you heard the old women’s voice again !, ” Fraud” and that she would be seeing him later that night. But the witch claimed there was another fake in Jackson’s company.
Jackson’s men all went to camp out in the fields and Jackson himself stayed in the house. Jackson himself stayed in the house. Funny enough the next morning the entire company of men including Jackson where seen walking away from the house into the fields and still today nobody knows why.

As time went on things continued. The family where continually taunted and scared. But they grew used to it. However John Bell began to experience twitches in his face and he couldn’t swallow for almost a year. The witch vowed to kill him again and again, it seemed only now that she trying to actually do so.
By 1820 his health made him bound to the house, not to mention the fact that the witch would remove his shoes when he tried to walk, or beat his face when he was experiencing seizures. During these episodes her voice would be heard all over the farm chanting ” Old Jack Bell “.
Eventually caving Old Jack Bell died on December 20, 1820 after falling into a coma. Straight after his death his family found an old vial full of liquid in the adjacent cabinet. They tested it on the family cat and it died immediately, directly after the cats death the witches voice rang out ” I gave Ol’ Jack a big dose of that last night which fixed him!”
Here is where it gets weird, apparently and witnessed by many John Bell Jr picked up and old blanket caught the spirit and threw it in the fire ! along with the vial which apparently smoked up into a bluish flame. But that did not work.
John Jr throwing the witch into the fire
During John Bells funeral the witch was heard laughing loudly and singing a song about a bottle of brandy. Even weirder is that apparently she returned and spoke to John Jr and his wife about the origins of life, Christianity etc … and said she would return to haunt the direct decent of John in 107 years.
Funny enough that actual descendant, a Dr. Charles Bailey Bell wrote a book about the Bell Witch and died mysteriously in 1945.

Almost 200 years later this exact The Bell Witch House and The Cave down below are some of the most violently haunted places in the entire world. Funny enough nobody ever knew about the cave just below the land, but it is thought that is where the witch originated. ( i know, witch living in a cave a bit of a cliche but there we go ).
The faint sounds of people talking and children playing can sometimes be heard in the area, and it’s not uncommon to see “candle lights” dance through the dark fields late at night. Photography is especially difficult; some pictures taken in the area show mist, orbs of light, and other phenomena, including human-like figures who were not present when the pictures were taken.
Zak Baggins and the Ghost Adventures team did a full investigation and got some pretty incredible evidence. But you’ll have to watch to find out see the link below for that !
The witch is often heard and seen today, people are scratched, strange lights, mists and all kinds of crazy stuff happens here on a daily basis and tours are only $8.00 !! right here > http://www.bellwitchcave.com/ghost_hauntings/bell_witch_cabin.htm
