Haunted Locations Portsmouth
Portsmouth is the home of the Royal Navy, standing in the safe waters of the Solent it has been the front line in Britain’s fight against all of its enemies for the past 2000 years. With the unknown numbers of seamen who have left its waters and never returned it is no surprise to find that it is also one of the most haunted locations in the country. It has also suffered its own tragedies, either from warfare or accident, it has seen bloodshed and murder, suicide and execution.
A lot of its oldest buildings which were haunted from long ago are not even standing today, yet many of these sites are still haunted by the ghosts of their former dwellings, where today stands a series of more modern houses, once stood the White Garter Public House. When the building was condemned and ordered to be torn down the demolition workers were horrified to find dozens of skeletal bodies which had been dumped in an underground cellar by a long forgotten murderer.
