Ghost Hunting At The St Comgall’s Primary School
Ghost Hunting At St Comgall’s Primary School
This former primary school now lays abandoned, its hallways empty and rooms left to crumble. However the building comes alive at night. Rife with activity, but not the kind for the easily scared.
Jimmy’s Room
This is where the old school boiler is kept. It is also what seems to be the most active part of the building. There is often a large man cloaked in shadow seen standing in the corners of this room, with it being such a tiny room you can imagine the shock of seeing him. Loud bangs can be heard coming from down in this part of the building as well as objects being thrown or moved right in front of investigators eyes. There is also a negative feeling to this room. People who have entered have been overcome with fear and dread, some have even had to leave due to a sudden sickness.
There have been intelligent responses to the name Jimmy Drain, both physical and through electronic devices. One night three young teenagers decided to be brave and enter. Just as they where about to leave the basement and venture into the hallways they heard a distinct man’s voice coming from around the corner, saying clearly ” Get Out “. So they ran heading straight for the exit. To there horror one of them looked back and said they saw a tall man in what looked like a black caretakers outfit following there steps with an inhuman pace.
Ouija Room
The Ouija Room is so named due to some disturbing events that took place not to long ago. Some kids entered the building after hearing the rumours of it being haunted. They decided to do the smartest of all things and try a ouija board out. The Ouija board spontaneously combusted and took the whole from with it. There is a history of fires and hauntings in this location for a very long time. Fire is something related to malevolent entities and this room shows alot of the alarming signs, as does the entire building.
There is strong poltergeist activity in this room. People have seen objects being moved and also come back to see rubbled stacked neatly one on top of the other in the centre of the room. People have also heard what sounds like growls or a hissing sound and have even been scratched. All signs of something demonic in nature. However the most commonly seen apparition in this part of the building is a little boy crying. Is he crying because he is scared of whatever is in there ? Perhaps he is just residual, but over time more and more stories have come out about spirit children not being exactly what they seem.
The haunting has simply begun with what appears to be a child in distress. Or a child talking to an invisible friend, telling his parents that it is a young boy. As soon as the afflicted person starts to take notice the activity begins to escalate until it reaches a point where its almost unbearable. It would seem this particular entity has been pretty much ignored up until this point. However it is called out for some real activity would begin to formulate. However these things are incredibly difficult to shake even after the investigation. Well known to follow you and affect you in a huge number of different ways. So if you dont know what you are doing, do not do it.
The Halls
There a figures and full body apparitions seen. Children are seen in different parts of the building but few pay any mind to visitors. There is also a large black shadow of a man who is seen walking up and down the halls and into various rooms. Loud crunching sounds are heard as if someone heavy set is walking on the rubble of the deteriorating building, as if he is walking up and down and in some cases following you. The shadow has also been seen around the children and he was captured standing behind what appears to be behind a young girl looking directly at the camera.
Whatever haunts St Comgalls primary is intelligent. There are too many intelligent responses to be ignored. The most recent paranormal investigation team PSI labelled this location the most haunted place in belfast. And the evidence they captured in a single night was iconical. Class A Evp, still shots of actual shadow figures, footsteps, light anomalies etc. However there seems to be something else within this once happy place, and provocation would lure it out.

Jimmy Drain
Jimmy Drain was the old caretaker at St Comgalls. The students actually used to joke that he would stay and haunt the place. As far as we can tell he actually did. Jimmy Drain was an elderly and tall man, very strong and youthful for his age. He was dedicated to the school and its pupils, he was often seen breaking up fights or comforting upset children. A Lot of the old students still reminisce about him on some of the old belfast forums. There are intelligent responses when calling out for Jimmy or Mr Drain, however they are not friendly.
One investigation of St Comgalls Primary was met with a series of Class A Evp’s and a clear mans voices coming from just outside the room they where conducting the session in. They started by asking ” Is anyone here ? ” which was met immediately by the evp recorder and a replay of ” Get Out” in a man’s voice. Excited they asked ” Is this Mr Drain ? ” and the evp replied again ” No, leave get out ? “. So they left that room but they kept hearing footsteps and breathing behind them, so they asked ” Mr Drain, are you following us ?”. It was met instantly by a man’s voice out loud directly behind them stating clearly ” Yes “.
Intelligent responses to the name Jimmy Drain is a logical reason to think that this is indeed Jimmy, but why is he so territorial and angry ?. He seemed to love the happy environment of the school, perhaps after years of trespassing and defilement he has lost trust. Is is seen normally the form of a man’s shape cloaked in shadow, but is he the only one ?
The Ghostly Children
There are children regularly seen around the building, boys and girls. However they seem to be residual apart from one. A girl is a white dress is seen around the building. There was a theory that she was residual appearing on the anniversary of a particular day of the school wearing the white dress. However very recently there was a group of young people who broke in. Despite the fact the only lasted an hour after the overwhelming activity they say this little girl twice. First she saw them and ran around the corner, second she was standing directly in front of the entrance to the ouija room. Why did she want them not to enter ?
There is also a little boy who has only been seen in the Ouija Room. He he seen crying, there is a decent point made by previous paranormal investigators that he is simply residual. However he is only seen in the ouija room and why is he crying ? Is he even a little boy or is it something else trying to snare you.
The Shadow Figure
It is acknowledged that in this location the shadow figure is Jimmy Drain. Whether or he is the only one in St Comgalls is a different question. With all of the evidence and recollections presented by the former primary school, i think its safe to say that Jimmy is still here. Despite this there are growls, physical attacks, and unexplained fires. This is all the signals of something malevolent and dark. But if it is here why ? It is possible that the supposed magic well was a pagan worshipping site and pagan rituals have been known to summon these things that druids called the old gods. It is just a theory, alot more investigation is needed in this location for sufficient evidence to prove the theory an ” old god ” is truly lurking within St Comgalls Primary
