But this location has been around for a long time and its steeped in a history of the kind the owners may not want to be let out. Suicide, murder and betrayal is a very real part of the hotel’s past and the cause for its incredible amount of paranormal activity. Of Course the hotel has its more famous stories, but what is the story of the white lady ? Why is she still here and why is she terrorising the guests ? Riddled with secret tunnels and with rooms sealed against the public, one of the countries hotels that can’t promise a full night’s sleep.

Ghost Hunting At Ardoe House Hotel

The Ardoe House Hotel a former manor home for the ogston family built in 1878, later turned into a hotel. Fair enough this hotel is fairly luxurious its grand estate and private spar, but it is famous for another reason. Because of its exactic paranormal activity. It is fairly rare that a guest would spend the night in this castle and not report something out of the ordinary.

The whole in its entirety is haunted, some parts more than others. The Main staircase is home to Ardoe’s White Lady. Often seen around the portrait of Anne Ogston. There are numerous reports of guests being tapped on the back only to turn around and see nobody there, also hearing soft whispers in there ear but unable to comprehend what exactly they meant and also a foreboding sense of being watched as they walk up or down the stairs.

One of the bedrooms on the second floor is also predominantly haunted although we are unable to confirm which one, i guess if you book in you’ll have to take a gamble. What we do know is that the guests staying in this particular room rarely enjoy a full nights sleep, they are woken in the dead of night by deafening screams and moans that sound like that of a young girl. Aswell as the staff having trouble with the main window, no matter how many times they they close it they always find it open, even sometimes if they just turn there back for a second.

Shouts and screams of fury are heard in the hall, kitchen and dining room. Also there are reports of people being pushed around or female guests having there hair pulled. There has also been an apparition of a man often seen standing as if in thought looking deep into the fire in the dining room.

The Most active part of the building is predominantly the ground floor, there seems to be a number of ghosts causing numerous disturbances here, but perhaps even more disturbing is the noises that seem to becoming from underneath the floor itself. There are loud moans and sobs of a young women that seem to come through the stone floor. There are no official statements that there is anything under there but there are rumours and myths that there where secret tunnels constructed by old colonel soapy to sneak away from home to greet his mistress. So if you do hear anything be sure to remember which spot. We can never know what else is down there really until we start searching.

The Ardoe House Hotel, formerly a manor house to a wealthy and noble family, but when something goes wrong and death follows the former residents normally stay behind, whether its residual or intelligent and very much like other old hotels it has its secrets. But this one of those beautifully haunted locations that give us a beautiful haunting.

The Ardoe House Hotel is an incredibly active locations. Full body apparitions are no rare thing here. Two noted suicides, a forbidden love, a controlling father, secret tunnels, can it get much better ? The wealthy nobleman who owned this manor house known as colonel soapy or Col James ogston, built the manor for the sole purpose of having an easier affair with his mistress living just across the river. This had a huge tumble effect which ended in the loss of life.

Anne Ogston seems to be the most responsive and intelligent spirit on premises. She was the envious wife of james and ended up begging for him to stop but he would not. She has taken her hate and anger onto whatever’s next with her it would seem. She is often seen in the hall, kitchen and dining room. People often report chilled spots around the house also being pushed with force, screams of rage and things being thrown and smashed. We can only conclude this is Anne because she is the only one with a reason for being like this.

Katherine Ogston was the daughter of a former owner and her portrait still hangs in the house today and there is a lot of activity reported around it. Sadly katherine was raped and impregnated with the strangers child. She then killed herself in her room. It is also rumoured that she could have killed herself down in the tunnels been that rumour is still unconfirmed. The figure of the white lady seen around the house and mainly around the portrait is thought to be katherine herself. In a certain room there are moans and cries of a young women constantly head and disturbing sleep, as well as the window being open and shut again and again. But there are also reports of baby cries and women’s moans of pain coming from underneath the floor, so what do we believe, where did she really die ? And what’s the real story behind this.

The figure of a man is seen around striding around the house and also leering over the fire in thought staring into the flames. It is thought that this is old Colonel Soapy himself but we can be sure as this seems to be only a residual haunting and there are no recorded reactions when be called out to. But i’m guessing the incredibly wealthy soap merchant with two wifes didn’t have much to be sad about.

There is no doubt that The Ardoe House Hotel is both luxurious and haunted. Bit of light and dark. But what we can be sure off is that make sure you sort all of your family problems out in this life or you could just end up like the unfortunate Ogstons.
