The Beechworth Lunatic Asylum holds the title of world’s most haunted Asylum and that is something to boast about ! Abandoned asylums are by far the creepiest of any stereotyped locations, a creepy ass empty building full of former mental patients… But this location has something a little more than the walking dead. There is said to be something dark here, attracted by all the pain and suffering. With over 9,000 recorded deaths it is not hard to believe.
The Mad Within
600 men and 600 women would be held at one time in the second oldest asylum in the world, over the span of 128 years, 9,000 patients died within the cursed walls. The building closed its doors for good in 1995 after failed attempts of a hotel, conference center and even a university. All of these businesses tried to face the problems after spending a presumably large sum in the shell of the old asylum but they where all driven out by those who still resided within.
In one of the rooms, you will find the signature of J.Kelly, one of more famous ghosts of Beechworth. He was sentenced to 15 years after burning down his sister-in-laws house. When he entered he was thought quite sane but he left a broken man and died in hospital in 1903. He is seen in his old room, striding and banging. In the same room a manical laughter is heard and objects are seen flying across the room before smashing on the wall. Anger ? Or is this pleasure from the fear he inspires.

The Reaction Hall is one of the most haunted rooms within the building. It was an area where patients would come together and sing or play music even preform from time to time. Two ghosts are seen here constantly. A young girl and an old man. The young girl is heard wailing and scratching at the walls and the old man is seen staring down at passers-by from the window.
The old Matron Sharpe is an active spirit around the dormitories. She is seen walking around the room and rushing up towards people who try and enter.
Tommy Kennedy was murdered in the kitchens when he was working with another patient. People report a tugging sensation or being poked in the ribs. The sound of pots and pans are heard clanging and smashing despite the fact there is no equipment left ! The screams of Tommy are heard, agonising and prolonged.

The sounds of children giggling and light footsteps are heard all over the building. The building had a huge childrens ward, ofcourse until very recently children were deemed insane when they where acting anything but ” Normal ” and they where treated brutally. Whipped, slapped or kicked. All it took was i slap around the head and an awkward fall and a child would be dead. In alot of old orphanges or aslyums the childrens deaths where often covered up and bodies hidden by evil old women who fed from the suffering of innocent children. In the past resident children were punished for talking to imaginary friends here. We know now that children’s imaginary friends are not always imaginary…
There are alot more intelligently active ghosts here but alot go unnamed. A certain presence or presences here are thought to be alot more than just former patients. All the death, pain and suffering felt here would have easily attracted something darker than the spirit of a little girl. People have enetered the building and been hit with a sudden sickness others have been scratched and bitten. A large black shadow is seen in every part of the bulding, stalking the corridoors, followed by a stench of human feses and with glowing red eyes. The feeling of terror some are said to experience without explanation can only be summed up to something demonic within. Is it possible certain groups have broken in an preformed dark rituals ? It would not be the first time insane asylums have been used for this…

Convicted and Condemed
All it took to be convicted to Beechworth Asylum was a request from a pissed off relative and a signature from a doctor who was not even required to examine you in person, and the majority of patients left in body bags…
By far the most haunted part of the building and most terrifying is the Grevillia wing. It was infamous wing that all patients feared, insane or not. With medication not being introduced until the 1950’s. So if you were called mad the only way to cure you were shackles or straight jackets in a tiny white room with padded walls. Often patients would spend weeks, even months on end in this room. Or electro-shock therapy, you would be strapped down and connected to electric wires, the shock felt throughout the body would have caused ligaments to snap and bones to break. The end result if often permanent brain damage that would normally kill so many brain cells and you would be a vegtable.

The Greville wing is by far the most haunted and easily the main part of the building to experience some intense paranormal activity.
All of this is, let’s be honest, shit scary but that is nothing compared to the dark history ignored down in the cellars and more.
Rituals & Necromancy in Beechworth
In some mourges or prisons or aslyumns there is rumour of evil practises being preformed of the corpses of the dead. Removing dead bodies or preparing the coprses for burial or indeed the burial itself were all roles that involved the dead were underpayed jobs and relativley easy work to get. So as you can imagine it attracted some of the stranger members of society. As for the doctors, that profession was diffiucult to get into, incredibly difficult. It would have taken a lot of hard work and dedication so it would have been efficent to certain sociopaths with fasination of human anatomy. So what happens then ?
A doctor begins by testing the bodies reactions or perhaps a person’s mental response to certain treatment and they are fascinated by it, then they begin to reach out further and experiment on the dead bodies, then when that was no longer enough to fulfill there self-proclaimed purpose they turned towards the rumours of necromancy and satanic rituals.
There was whispers of this type of activity taking place in the bowls of Beechworth Asylum and why not ! Acts of this kind always attract those darker things and i understand this sounds a tad wacky but go to places supposedly haunted by demonic creatures and then place judgement. It is not hard to believe that these kinds of acts took place at this location and even less hard to believe that something inhuman is still lurking the abandoned halls of the worlds most haunted asylum.
A terrified woman has recently surfaced about her horrific experiences at home. She claims that she has been followed by the ” Violent ghost of Jack the Ripper!” for four decades. She even sent in a video to support her claim. Check it out below.
Her Story
The women called Gaynor Issit had said that the evil presence in her home has been following her around for as long as she could remember. She claims that the evil presence is, in fact, Jack the Ripper !!, the infamous East End murderer who took the lives of 11 women in 1888, he was never caught. She said his ghost in one of a few in her home.
Apparently, they burn bibles, attack her in her sleep and she has even claimed to have been punched and hit around the head.
Ms Issit said she has to “share the property” in Leicestershire with all of the evil spooks. The house has even been exorcised a few times all of the priests have tried and failed to get rid of the ghosts inside. The women have been dragged from bed a couple times since those ” Life-saving ” exorcisms, as well as being pushed down the stairs.
She claims the September following the exorcisms is when the shiz began to really hit the fan. She claimed that since then her life has been a living nightmare. But she simply refuses to move out, because it’s the house where she has brought up all of her children, which to be honest does not sound to homely.
Some serious paranormal investigators have been in the home since the claims first hit the media, and they agree that her house is amongst the top five most haunted in Britain. A guy called Mark Vernon who has been working within the paranormal world for over 15 years is convinced that one of the spirits involved could easily be the true ghost of Jack the Ripper. ” I feel sorry for what she has had to go through, i have never seen a house with this level of activity”.
Ms Issit has been living at home alone after the poltergeists attacked her husband.He knows lives in a care home following an accident that left him paralysed, he’s 43….
They have dubbed the ghost causing the most harm ” Jack “, he is well known for burning the heads from family photos and furniture. Ms Issit added, ” He has started fires so often that I have to keep buckets of water around the house, he physically attacks me, and I have been left bruised in the past.” ” We have also heard growling noises and my partner has seen the figure of a large man walking around the house, as well as a little girl and old women.” ” We have never spoken to it directly, but we’ve recorded them and they swear and say there going to kill someone in the house.” ” We have learned to just live with it…”

It would seem to us after seeing countless cases like this, that this is without a doubt the work of something inhuman. Fires, scratching, growling, attacks, death threats, they all sum up to the same cause. Perhaps Jack the Ripper is here also but this is the primary work of something demonic…

There are alot of haunted dolls out there these days, but Harold was one of the first ones and it still one of the most dangerous. He was the first haunted doll to be sold on Ebay but he has been shipped from owner to owner all of the previous having experiences to disturbing to keep him for more than a couple of weeks.

” I´m sure its happened to us all atleast one or twice. You are walking around a flea market or antique mall looking for a treasure or two and you come upon a beat-up looking doll. You think to yourself, “Oh that´s charming, or ” the child who owned this doll must have really loved this thing”… but what i thought after seeing the doll that is offered today should never ever, be repeated…
This doll was purchased in a small dirt lot flea market in the quaint town of Webster, Florida. Webster is a very charming, industrial town about 60 miles South West of Gainesville. They have a weekly flea market offering treasures, bargains, and aisles of kettle corn…anyways, I digress..
I arrived at the flea market fairly late in the fay when most people were packing up to go home. That is when i saw an elderly man placing the doll in a box.
It looked interesting, so i asked the man if i could see it… the conversation went something like this…
Man : You don’t want to see this doll
Me : Sure I do. What do you want for it
Man: Well… this is a good question because its very old…( the man looked like he was going to begin to cry ) It was my son’s, i bought it for him when he was born, and he passed away a few years after… this doll has sat in my work shed for over 60 years. I wasn’t going to bring i t out today, but i figured i just needed to get it out there… anyways, i want 20 bucks for it.
I gave the guy 20 bucks, put it in a bag, and walked away. When i was halfway down the aisle, the man came running over, visibly out of breath…
Man: I have to warn you about something. I can’t let you take him like this… the reason it has been in my shed, is that the doll bought an eerie presence into our house after our son died… we would hear crying and singing from his bedroom… when we went to check it out, there was nothing, just the doll… Other things started to happen, and the priest told me i should burn the doll. I tried and tried, but it would barley burn. That’s why his arms and legs are so worn… anyways, I just wanted to let you know…
I told him ok, and chuckled to myself as I walked away… that was until i got home, and my life has never been the same…
Two days later my cat died, my gf left me for the pool guy. I began to have chronic migraines, and this is only 2 days after purchasing the doll!
A week later I began to hear children laughing and crying in my basement… Every time i would go check it out… ofcourse… nothing.
The doll has been in an armadillo coffin in my basement for the last year and a half, and i need to get rid of it… I really do believe its cursed, sometimes i touch it, and it seems like it has a pulse, maybe I’m just paranoid, maybe not.
The cursed doll measures 21″ tall. His/her/its head, arms and legs are all composition. The eyes are closed when its lying down.

The Story Continues
Harold the Doll since that moment has been passed from owner to owner not many held on for long, all of whom where being terrorized with various stories of the childish laughter or singing, being bitten or scratched or there life taking a turn for the worst. It went through countless owners until it fell into the guardianship of one man. Anthony Quinata.
Antony bought Harold and a bunch of other haunted objects in hope to write a book on his experiences, however at first Harold did nothing. Anthony tested the doll with an EMF meter and an EVP recorder, but nothing. But even after that he decided to store the doll, thinking it a fake however he did place it in a box with holy water and a crucifix. ” Better safe than sorry” he would say.
It was not until he bought the doll to a friend of his called April who worked with the paranormal. He decided to set up an EVP recorder.But again no activity, however when he got home he decided to listen back to the recordings and he heard clearly, ” Shut up, bitch!” which was followed by an angry roar, then saying, ” I´m going to kill you, bitch!”.
After this he decided to put the doll in a box for 8 years and simply forget about it. But in 2013 he brought it out and since that moment its been a frenzy of activity.
He posted a picture online after taking it out of storage. It was met with a immense response and alot of stories. People became dizzy or got sudden headaches after only looking at the photo. A few people even woke up in the middle of the night, feeling Harold was watching them. This caught the attention of Zak Bagans and the famous Ghost Adventures crew who wanted to talk the doll to Xochimilco, the world most haunted island covered in what is apparently haunted dolls. What happens on the island is nothing short of insanity. A fire decided to light itself up in front of the camera. A doll laughed and upon investigation they found the doll not only had no batteries but no speakers ! Aswell as Zak suffering three small bruises on his arm that looked like children’s fingers.
Alot of people doubt the validity of these guys and the island itself, the island we are not to sure but the Ghost Adventures crew is perhaps the only genuine paranormal investigation crew out there and without doubt the best.
Strangely enough however the current owner brought Harold out later on whilst this episode was playing and on the TV and he claimed responsibility for the whole thing. See Below.
We are not huge believers or supporters of psychic mediums, nor do we take interest in the spiritual side of the paranormal, its a little to dull. However after the show Anthony was overwhelmed with hundreds of messages about the doll but out of the mass, Anthony came into contact with a six year old boy called Vincent in Australia.
Vincent drew a picture of the doll and told his mother that the children wanted to get outside to the sunshine but the black blob wouldn’t let them. Over the course of the next year, Vincent provided Anthony with far more information.
Vincent also claimed that there was 4 spirits in the doll, one was a man called Harold and the fifth was demonic. Anthony himself states that the demon does not haunt the doll… he owns it. He went on to list the atrocities the doll has inflicted upon the living.
One woman said bad things about it and she started coughing up blood. Others have been pinched, scratched and suffered immediate headaches. Two men made fun of the doll after watching the Ghost Adventures segment. One of them suffered a ruptured larynx, while the other man had a sudden bout of diverticulitis.
Still others have reported having horrific nightmares after even looking at a photo of the doll. The list of people who have experienced negative side-effects after either meeting Harold or looking at his photo is quite impressive. According to the previous owner, two people she knew died because of Harold. This is definitely not a doll anyone should mess with.
Anthony and Harold
Anthony later starting to parade Harold a little bit, when he took the cursed doll to a ghost workshop. Demon’s hate exposure and Anthony payed for it….
The night following the dolls parade Anthony was attacked. After blacking out in the bathtub, he then found himself on the floor with his head resting on the tub. Excruciating pain radiated from his chest. It was so strong, he feared he was having a heart attack. But even today Anthony wont let go of the doll, but we see this with countless other objects. People become obsessed.
What is Harold
There are alot and i mean A LOT of supposedly haunted objects out there and even more haunted dolls. If you simply type into eBay the phrase haunted doll you are overwhelmed with a plethora or options. But the most haunted dolls in the world such as Annabelle or Robert all have one thing in common with Harold. Its nothing human that is possessing them.
Dolls are a favorite thing of demons to take over, the theory is that dolls come with a certain innocence and nearly always a story of a little boy or girl who died when in possession of the doll they loved, so naturally this leads people to believe it is the spirit of an innocent child. But when the demonic entity gains your trust its almost like giving it permission to ruin your life.
Demons personally like to work from a position from seclusion and often effect people in ways that could be coincidence and most people will coincidence or affect you simply when there is no one else around. They attach themselves to these objects, unable to fully possess them to try and weaken your mind and then fully possess you.
From all the stories you’ve heard about Harold, Robert or Annabelle I’m sure you know only to well what these creepy little mofos are capable off, but still they can give us some real solid and terrifying evidence. In short Harold is an object used by a demon as a kind of tool to gain access to peoples lives. Perhaps there are other spirits with it also but there is just not enough knowledge on the subject to prove anything of the sort.

A women called Lisa recently uploaded an incredible evp. Shortly after the death of her husband she was doing an evp session, which she had preformed recently with very poor results. However when she began questioning the existence of god what she got was incredible.
“I was frustrated and started verbally questioning the existence of God before the recording. I asked “tell me about God?” and recorded. I heard nothing at the time, several weeks later I thought I would clean out the recorder and was very surprised that I got a response which I have attached.”
You can hear quite clearly “Hes Real” and ” Its Real” repeated, so is this proof. It will be solum proof to Lisa who caught the evp, but for the rest of us we will never know. Awesome Evp tho.
